January 12, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, visited the Pukjung Machine Complex to encourage the workers in their production drive for the new year. Kim was accompanied by Kim Phyong Hae, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, Jon Pyong Ho, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Ri Yong Chol and Ju Kyu Chang, first vice-department directors of its Central Committee.

January 13, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, gave field guidance to the September General Iron Enterprise. Kim was accompanied by Kim Phyong Hae, chief secretary of the North Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, Jon Pyong Ho, secretary of its Central Committee, and Ri Yong Chol and Ju Kyu Chang, first vice department directors of its Central Committee.

January 14, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, gave field guidance to the Rakwon Machine Complex. January 21, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Unit 929. Kim was joined by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

January 27, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected a sub-unit of KPA unit 347 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

January 28, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected the pig farm of KPA Unit 966. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

February 4, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, met participants in the Meeting for the General March of the Songun Revolution. Kim was joined by senior party, state and army officials, Kim Yong Nam, Jo Myong Rok, Pak Pong Ju, Kim Yong Chun, Kim Il Chol, Ri Yong Mu, Jon Pyong Ho, Choe Thae Bok, Kim Kuk Thae, Kim Jung Rin, Kim Ki Nam, Jong Ha Chol and Choe Yong Rim, and chief secretaries of the provincial committees of the WPK and chairmen of the provincial people's committees.

February 17, 2005: Leader Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, met Mira Koltsova, head of the State Academy Beriozka Dancing Troupe of Russia. Also present was Andrei Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK. Kim watched a performance given by the Dancing Troupe. Present in the audience were Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Kim Yong Chun, member of the NDC and chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Choe Thae Bok and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, senior officials of the Party and the army and servicepersons of the KPA.

February 21, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, received Wang Jiarui, head of the International Liaison Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on a visit to the DPRK. Kim "noted that the DPRK has never opposed the six-party talks but made every possible effort for their success," and would "go to the negotiating table anytime if there are mature conditions for the six-party talks thanks to the concerted efforts of the parties concerned in the future." Also present at the meeting was Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs. Kim also hosted a dinner for Wang.

March 7, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, appreciated a performance given by the KPA State Merited Chorus. With him were Premier of the Cabinet Pak Pong Ju, Minister of the People's Armed Forces Kim Il Chol who is member of the NDC of the DPRK, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam, leading officials of the Party and the army, servicepersons and officials of literary, art and media organizations.

March 8, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, visited the Russian embassy in Pyongyang. While there, Kim was presented with a medal commemorating the 60th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. Russian Ambassador Andrei Gennadiyevich Karlov presented the medal on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Also present for the visit, the banquet and the art performance were Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Chief of the General Staff of the KPA Kim Yong Chun, member of the DPRK National Defence Commission, Yon Hyong Muk, vice-chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and officials concerned, as well as staff members of the Russian embassy. April 6, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Korean Workers' Party and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Guard Unit 487 honoured with the title of the O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment. Kim was joined by generals of the KPA Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

April 7, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army, enjoyed a performance given by the Russian Presidential Orchestra. Kim met with Maj. General Oleg Galkin, commander of the Bodyguard Regiment for the Russian president who is leading the Presidential Orchestra, and Andrei Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK. Also present at the performance were Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Kim Yong Chun, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, Yon Hyong Muk, vice-chairman of the NDC of the DPRK, Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, senior officials of the Party and the army, officials in the diplomatic field, literary and art and media organizations and servicepersons.

April 8, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected KPA combined unit 837. Kim was joined by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

April 10, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, saw the light comedy "We" staged by artistes of the April 25 Film Studio of the KPA. Also present were Vice-Marshal Kim Yong Chun, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, and Vice-Marshal Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, who are members of the NDC of the DPRK and Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee, senior officials of the Party and the army and officials of the literary, art and media organizations.

April 11, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, appeared on the platform at the Third Session of the 11th Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was held at the Mansudae Assembly Hall. Also on the platform were Kim Yong Nam, Jo Myong Rok, Pak Pong Ju, senior officials of the Party, the state and the army, chairpersons of friendly parties, and members of the Presidium of the SPA.

April 14, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, enjoyed a performance given by the Chinese Hangzhou Song and Dance Ensemble attending the 23rd April Spring Friendship Art Festival. Also present were Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Kim Yong Chun, member of the DPRK NDC and chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army, Kim Il Chol, member of the NDC and minister of the People's Armed Forces, Yon Hyong Muk, vice-chairman of the NDC, Choe Thae Bok, Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, leading officials of the party and the army, servicepersons and officials of literature and art and the press organs, as well as Sun Xiaohong, head of the Chinese art troupe, and Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, and embassy officials.

April 16, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, appreciated a joint performance given by a music troupe of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, the Russian Sveshnikov State Academic Chorus, the Russian Kazakh Dance Company and the Russian tap dance group participating in the 23rd April Spring Friendship Art Festival. Kim met with Stanislav Kalinin, head of the a music troupe of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, Igor Ivanovich Rayevsky, head of the Russian Sveshnikov State Academic Chorus, Leonid Petrovich Milivanov, head of the Russian Kazakh Dance Company, Vladimir Kirsanov, head of the Russian tap dance group, and Andrei Gennadiyevich Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK. April 19, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a company under KPA Unit 2040. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su and Hyon CHol Hae and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of the C.C., WPK.

April 22, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a reconnoitering company of KPA Unit 720. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su and Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of the C.C., WPK.

April 22, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 2183. Kim was accompanied by Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.

April 24, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected a sub-unit of KPA Unit 4313. Kim was accompanied by Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of the C.C.,WPK.

April 26, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, appreciated a performance given by the State Merited Chorus of the KPA on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the heroic KPA. Also present were Kim Yong Chun, member of the DPRK National Defence Commission and chief of the General Staff of the KPA, Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the C.C, WPK, Ri Yong Chol, member of the WPK Central Military Commission and first vice department director of the C.C, WPK, KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and other general officers of the KPA.

April 27, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected the command of a KPA large combined unit in the eastern sector of the front. Kim was joined by Chief of the KPA General Staff Kim Yong Chun and KPA General Pak Jae Gyong.

May 19, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, enjoyed a performance given by art groups of servicemen's families of KPA Unit 593 and KPA Unit 529 at the 8th contest among art groups of servicemen's families. Also present were Kim Yong Chun, chief of the General Staff of the KPA, KPA Generals Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, general officers and Secretary Kim Ki Nam, First Vice-Department Director Ri Jae Il and Vice-Department Director Hwang Pyong So of the C. May 20, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, enjoyed a performance given by art groups of families of servicemen of KPA Unit 549 and KPA Unit 572 at the eighth contest among art groups of servicemen's families. June 12, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, watched "Life", a light comedy recently produced by the April 25 Feature Film Studio of the KPA. Also present were Chief of the General Staff Kim Yong Chun and Minister of the People's Armed Forces Kim Il Chol, who are members of the NDC, secretaries of the WPK Central Committee Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam and other senior party and army officials, and officials of literary and art and media institutions.

June 17, 2005: Leader Kim Jong Il received Jong Tong Yong (Chung Dong Young), minister of Unification of south Korea, who visited as a special envoy of President Roh Moo Hyun, marking the 5th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration. Also present was Rim Tong Ok, first vice department director of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea. Seperately, Kim met with Rim Tong Won (Lim Dong Won), former director of the National Intelligence Service, Pak Jae Gyu, former minister of Unification, Choe Hak Rae, former manager of the newspaper Hangyore, Kim Po Hyon, former vice-director of the National Intelligence Service, Kang Man Gil, former president of Sangji University, and Kim Min Ha, former chief vice-chairman of the Advisory Council on Peaceful Unification Policy, and Pak Yong Gil, widow of Rev. Mun Ik Hwan. Rim Tong Ok was also present for these meetings.

July 4, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, enjoyed a performance given by the visiting State Academic Moiseyev Dance Company of Russia. Kim met Head of the dance company Elena Scherbakova, Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Andrei Karlov and his wife. Also present were Choe Thae Bok, Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, senior officials of the Party and the army and officials of cultural, art and media institutions.

July 8, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, together with commanding members of the NDC of the DPRK and the KPA visited the Kumsusan Memorial Palace at 0:00 to pay homage to Kim Il Sung. Also present were Yon Hyong Muk, vice-chairman of the NDC of the DPRK, KPA Vice Marshal Kim Yong Chun, member of the NDC of the DPRK and chief of the General Staff of the KPA, KPA Vice Marshal Kim Il Chol, member of the NDC of the DPRK and minister of the People's Armed Forces, staff members of the KPA Supreme Command and general officers of the KPA.

July 13, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, met Tang Jiaxuan, councilor of the State Council of China who is special envoy of Chinese President Hu Jintao. Also present were Kim Yang Gon, councilor of the NDC of the DPRK, and Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador e.p. to the DPRK.

July 16, 2005: Kim Jong Il, chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, received Chairperson of Hyundai Group Hyon Jong Un and Vice-Chairman of Hyundai Asan Kim Yun Gyu. Also present was Rim Tong Ok, first vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

July 17, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected a newly-built general foodstuff processing factory under KPA Unit 534. Kim was joined by Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, generals of the KPA, Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission and first vice department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Ri Jae Il, first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee.

July 19, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected KPA Unit 937 honored with the title of Kum Song Lifeguard situated on the forefront. Also present were Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee, and Hwang Pyong So, vice department director of its Central Committee.

July 20, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected the command of KPA Unit 118. Kim was accompanied by Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee, and Hwang Pyong So, vice department director of its Central Committee.

July 21, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 2653. Kim was joined by Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee, and Hwang Pyong So, vice department director of its Central Committee.

July 22, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, gave field guidance to the new saltern in Wonsan Bay. Kim was met by Ko Jong Dok, chairman of the Kangwon Provincial People's Committee, Pak Jong Nam, secretary of the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the WPK, and senior officials of the province and the saltern. Kim was accompanied by Ri Jae Il, first vice department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, and Hwang Pyong So, vice department director of its Central Committee.

July 23, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected companies under KPA Unit 287.

July 25, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit 503. Kim was accompanied by First Vice Department Director Ri Jae Il and Vice Department Director Hwang Pyong So of the WPK Central Committee.

August 2, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected the command of the large combined unit and Unit 615 honored with the title of Kum Song Lifeguard of the KPA situated in the forefront area in the central sector of the front. Kim was joined by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

August 4, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected a company of KPA Unit 228. Kim was joined by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

August 15, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, met with Konstantin Borisovich Pulikovski, presidential envoy to the Far East Federal District of Russia. Also present were Kim Yang Gon, councilor of the DPRK National Defence Commission, and Andrei Karlov, Russian ambassador to the DPRK.

August 15, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, met a delegation of the Russian veteran law-makers headed by Vasilii Klyuchenok, first vice-chairman of the Defence and Security Committee of the Russian Federation Council, during a joint banquet of the DPRK and Russia for celebrating the 60th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

August 15, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, enjoyed a performance given by the visiting Russian State Academy Beryozka Dancing Troup. November 7, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected the Naephyong No. 2 Kunmin Power Station built by servicepersons of Large Combined Unit 549 of the KPA in cooperation with people in the area where they are stationed. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, First Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Ri Jae Il and Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee Hwang Pyong So.

November 9, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defense Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Unit 847. Kim was accompanied by Vice Department Director of the Central Committee of the WPK Hwang Pyong So.

November 14, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected a company under KPA Unit 287. Kim watched an art performance given by soldiers of the company. Kim was accompanied by Hwang Pyong So, vice department director of the WPK Central Committee.

Kim met with commanding officer of the company Son Kyong Ho, son of the Om Pok Sun soldiers' family well known to the country. Kim was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of the C.C., the WPK, and Hwang Pyong So, vice department director of the C.C., the WPK.

December 13, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, gave field guidance to the newly built Dock No. 2 at the Ryongnam Ship Repair Factory. Kim was accompanied by Pak Pong Ju, premier of the DPRK Cabinet. He was greeted on the spot by Kim Yong Il, minister of Land and Marine Transport, and leading officials of the factory. Kim also acquainted himself with how the Ministry of Land and Marine Transport constructed a new container terminal at Nampho port.

December 15, 2005: Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, visited newly built shops at the Ryongsong Foodstuff Factory, including one producing beer and another producing processed milk built. Kim was accompanied by Kim Kuk Thae and Kim Ki Nam, secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK, Ri Jae Il, first vice department director of the WPK Central Committee, and Generals of the Korean People's Army Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong.

December 16, 2005: Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, saw an art performance "Blue Sky over My Country" prepared by the prestigious art organizations of the army and society including the State Merited Chorus of the KPA, the Mansudae Art Troupe, the KPA Song and Dance Ensemble and the Phibada Opera Troupe on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the WPK. Also in the audience were Vice Marshal of the KPA Kim Yong Chun, member of the NDC of the DPRK and chief of the KPA General Staff, Vice Marshal of the KPA Kim Il Chol, member of the NDC of the DPRK and minister of the People's Armed Forces, staff members of the KPA Supreme Command and other general officers.
