COMMENTARY

1996 saw me working temporarily in various jobs, slogging my heart out for a hourly wage, and even working in a factory for a short period of time. Physical labour. Anyone who claims it had redeeming macho qualities has obviously never done it. My mother had recently left the planet, my long term - and turbulent - relationship was equally unstable, and I found the year as a whole, one best forgotten. In terms of writing, there was a poor harvest. Technically I was improving, but with retrospect, some of the subject matter was limited. I still bore the scars of cranking out 4,000 words a day on demand in an underpaid job, and even now, the sight of a blank computer screen is enough to strike fear in my heart.

NOTE
These poems use the old layout of the site, some quite dated white upon black design.
I don't like it, but let's just say it's a 'retro' design. Might be worth a bit in a few years.
