Summary of Matthew's Gospel: The Baptism of Jesus

John the Baptist was the cousin of Jesus. John plays a crucial role in the life of Jesus. The role of John was to baptize Jesus. John, however, thought that he was unworthy of baptizing Jesus, but Jesus insisted on it. A very surprising thing that occured right after the Baptism of Jesus was that the clouds opened, and a voice from Heaven said, "This is my beloved son, with whom I am well pleased."
