| It's Wednesday night and tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Mom and I leave for Prague on Friday and I'm really excited about going. I guess that I'm not expecting a whole lot, but that's just me. I guess that I just don't know how to get into the holiday season this year- I mean I'm not feeling very festive. I feel like I've forgotten or lost something somewhere, but I don't know what it is. I guess that when Trevor and Grandma arrive on the 18th things will perk up, but hey I've never been a big fan of family holidays (though I wouldn't have them any other way). Changing threads, Mom and I walked a big circle around the Embankment, Picadilly Circus, Covent Garden, and Leister Square today, so of course I went into the Virgin Megastore. I unfortunately had to replace my copy of Alice In Chains Dirt, as the first one has finally died. But I also found a great 2 disc set of Pantera's Greatest Hits- come to think of it- there were a lot of bands that I thought were too young to have greatest hits albums on the shelves as well. I'm only 24, so why does this make me feel soo old? Anyway, down to my rant! As we were walking down the street today I was amazed at the shear number of people who were paying no attention to the world around them. I mean, walking city streets can be like an obstacle course sometimes and other times it can be like a strange waltz, but I was at the point where I said that the next person to come walking straight at me was going to have to go around as I was not moving! Childish I know, but it's the little victories right? So what is wrong with looking up from the pavement once in a while I ask?! People act as though it's something offensive to catch anothers gaze- Hell, what are eyes for then if not to look! Somewhere somehow, I think, somebody decided that eye contact equalls the need to start a conversation- IT DOESN'T! So next time you walk down the street, feel free to look up and yes, you might catch someones eyes, but hey-it's the holidays, smile! I mean, I thought that I was bitter and self-righteous, but guess what- Londoners have taken my title from me. Congratulations people, the cookie is on the counter. Sarah should find this particular rant ammusing as she is my voice of reason and nicities. I probably should find a more positive way to look at this, but hey, it is a rant after all......... So I've decided what I want to be when I grow up. I want to own a bar! This should be no shock to my friends, but it will be a wonderful Pub style set-up with at least two TV screens (1 for other sports and 1 for the Rugby Matches). All things Rugby will be in a back room and there will be a light set menu. On Friday and Saturday nights there will be live local bands, unless I can aford somebody bigger. Generally you can discribe the idea as controlled anarchy with lots of dollar draghts. CSHL- Chiswick, London 24 November, 2004 |
