| Topic: Happy Birthday to me So I've returned from a very long weekend in Canary Warf and wow... I haven't lost track of time like this due to too much Birthday fun in years! Monica, Harry- You'd be very proud of me. So the weekend started on Friday 3 December at some medievil banquet hall for my mothers executive team holiday outing. Needless to say, too much mead and her head of engineering was dancing with the wenches in an apron and bonnet. Then we were off to the hotel. It was a "posh" location, but mom was there for a GM's meeting so I would expect nothing less. The saving grace of the place though was the bar staff. Like you thought I'd say something different? I can't remember their names to save my life, but the second night I was there I ended up hearing a story about some Transvestite Cowgirls. Anyway, so Friday night we met none other than the coaching staff of the Fullham Football team. They were actually hitting on my mother, but she was soo oblivious to this that I think in the middle of a sentence she got up and said, "It was nice meeting you but it's time to go." You should have seen the looks on thier faces- and I think that they were offereing us free tickets to the game! So Saturday, we went to see Jerry Springer the Opera and I realized why I hadn't had the inclination to see it before- it was kind of mediocre, but fun all the same. We went from there to some French restaurant in Covent Garden and, of course, back to the hotel bar. I just stayed at the bar chatting iwth the bartenders for a while, but nothing spectacular happened. The trouble began when mom's friend Peter shows up for dinner on Sunday. For my official Birthday dinner we went to Le Pont de la Tour, on the Thames with a view of Tower bridge. It was a cute little restaurant, but there was something lacking, not sure what it was. Anyway, dirty martini's, wine and cake..... We went back to the hotel bar and had a night cap, then they went up and I stay chatting with the bartenders (are we seeing a pattern here?). But monday night was the most fun. So, monday I went to Maddam Toussants and it was pretty cool, great wax figures. I was on my own for the day as mom had meetings and receptions and such, so I ended up having dinner and hanging out at the hotel bar (you guessed it!). When I had decided I've had my last beer for the night and gotten up from my seat I heard my name and looked over to see none other than Peter! He and a couple of the other meeting attendees were sitting behind me getting nice and toasty, so I went to join them. I stayed with beer, but when a friend of theirs, Jonothan, showed up the Jaegger shots came out. So needless to say I was laughing myself silly and playing mediator as the Brits started to take the piss out of each other. Anyway, 4 am and I'm going to bed. What a great Birthday Weekend!
