| Topic: The Holiday Aftermath Well cats and kittens, the X-mas season is now over, and what a season it has been. I don't think that there has been a more somber mood in the air since the last world war- or a larger death toll for that matter. Nature is a funny thing sometimes, both beautiful and horrible all at once. It's a shame though that it has taken something of this magnitude for everyone to remember that they have a heart. Since this topic is being thoroughly covered on all news channels and print media I will only say one thing- My heart goes out to all those affected by this horrible event. It amazes me that only after seeing these events did my family understand my desire to work for a charitable organization as a carreer. Hell, my grnadmother spent 20 minutes telling me that volunteering is the worst thing to do because they will only take advantage of you. Well, I don't see it that way. I guess that being back in Florida and returning to the everpresent questions of job, money, and home have brought me right back to reality. The reality being that people really are egocentric. If it has nothing to do with them, then it isn't important. I am not excluding myself from this analysis by any means, but I would like to think that I consider others more often than most. Why do these horrible things happen? And why does Murphy always kick you when you're down? CSHL- 4 January, 2005. Sunrise, Florida, United States of America |
