Update Done. Finished. Complete. Final. The insanity is finally over. All receipts are in, all figures are calculated. All talent's been paid, all trailers are bein returned to the rental company, and the studio's being sold to Vivendi Universal (snort) . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Many thanks to, and general pagan worship for, the amazing Hollywood Mogul designer - he made me realize that my site as originally posted didn't have any context. Kinda like a (sc)Amway salesman who doesn't mention (sc)Amway until a gun is pointed at his head...only with a much better product, and no downline. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Introduction: Once upon a time, many moons ago, I downloaded a game demo titled "Hollywood Mogul". Whilst installing the game, I thought about what a neat little premise the game had - make my very OWN movies! - and figured it would provide me with an hour or two of entertainment before I uninstalled the game and went on to greener pastures. 14 hours later, I realized that I had better buy the game, because it offered a better high than any drug I've ever taken (besides the psychedelic stuff the doc shot me up with during childbirth...but that's another story for another day). Present Day: I play Hollywood Mogul religiously. I play it at work, when I really should find something more productive to do. I play it at home, even when I should be using the time to sleep. I keep bugging my fiancé to buy the game, so I can play it at his place, too. I pray that someday, there will be a multiplayer version of HM, even as I realize that, should this dream come true, I'd become a rabid, anti-social nut like those techies who play CounterStrike. Well, maybe not that bad...but close. In February 2004, the HM gods spake unto me. My Mission: 10 games. 10 movies. 10 genres. Yep, it's official, folks - I am insane. |

My thoughts on making a studio into a going concern: |

|
Making films from 4-star scripts SUCKS if you're playing at the Mogul level! 45% of those suckers weren't worth making at the prices I had to pay...VERY different from my original stab at Mogul-dom up above (the blurb on avoiding bankruptcy) . Check out the results of this foray into the crème de la crap, and remember - I was bleeding a cool billion a year in overhead: |
