This was the least financially successful of the genre runs to date, but it was also the most fun.  Mulder & Scully starring in 10 romantic comedies - the stuff that Shipper dreams are made of!

From relative obscurity (#99 and 84 in the talent rankings, respectively), David and Gillian each ended up being the #3 talent on the list - pretty damn good, considering the average revenue of their films was less than $175 million, and 40% of their films never turned a profit.

That #3 ranking definitely made the tenth release ("Everything on the Menu") the top box-office draw, especially since that film was competing against FOUR other romantic comedies that month!

Miscellaneous:

  • My best release months were January, May, and December... the traditional month for love stories and their ilk (February) was a coin toss - sometimes decent, more often BRUTAL.

  • GA and DD were the Susan Luccis of the Mogies. Gillian ended this run winning 1 of 6 nominations, with poor David losing all 5 of his nominations. Sigh.

  • The $30 mil production budget, with $1 mil in stunts and $3 mil in standard F/X had all of Hollywood knocking on my door for some action. I wonder if that budget would also do well for love stories, dramas, comedies, musicals, historical epics...

  • I have no idea what genre I'm going to focus on next. Maybe I'll try S-T-V low-budget horror, 10 October releases in 1-2 years.
