Radio Controlled Sukhoi Su-26mx

The sukhoi is all wood construction (except for the cowl and landing gear). The flying surfaces are built up and fully sheeted. The wing is 2 piece and the wing joiner is 6.5mm (1/4 inch) ply. My model is powered by a Supertigre G.90.

Laser cut Sukhoi parts

Alex Kolyvanov has offered to laser cut the parts for the sukhoi, and also to print the plans. He already has the cad files all set up so you just need to ask him. Check his website, or email him for pricing.

Sukhoi plan printing

Rob van der Heijden has offered to print plans. Click Here for more info.

Plan Updates - A separate page where I will list any updates or corrections to the sukhoi plans (last update: 12th November 2001).

The sukhoi specifications can be seen here

To see some construction photos (with brief descriptions) take a look at these pages:

Photos of the fuselage construction.

Photos of the wing construction.

Other photos.

Flying (or sitting on the ground waiting to fly) R/C SU-26MX photosThe flying shots are all of flybys, no aerobatic pics yet.

A bunch of pics of the sukhoi sitting on the ground

Here are some building notes with pictures thrown in to make them look pretty:

Sukhoi building notes(probably not very interesting or useful unless you're planing on building a sukhoi from my plans)

Read a bit about the first crash (rough landing) of my sukhoi here

I have written a bit of a flight description. Basically I've just written down the sukhoi's bad and good qualities that I could think of. Click here to see them.

I've been asked once or twice if I could explain better how the wings are attached to the sukhoi, so I've made a rough sketch to explain it: sukhoi_wing_attachment.gif

Here is a picture of the muffler that I made (with help) for my sukhoi with the dimensions listed. Be warned, this muffler is bigger than it needs to be, if you make your own one, make it smaller than this. mufflerdimensions.jpg

Here is a page with suggestions for the control throws.

Here are some 3 views of the full size sukhoi from http://rf-hp.npi.msu.su/~vasya/RC/rc.htm. And Here are some 3 views emailed to me by Celso from Brasil.

I've been told that Bolly make a carbon fibre undercarriage closely matches the sukhoi's undercarriage. It is their F3A 2000 model. Also if you are in Australia, Laser MAC might be worth a try for laser cut parts.

Free CAD plans available on the download page.

If you do build a sukhoi from my plans (modified or not) I'd like it if you could send me a photo or two (and comments) and (if it's ok with you) I'll make a page for them and put them up for all to see.

Warning.

Do NOT try to build the sukhoi if you are a beginner. The sukhoi requires quite a bit of experience to build and fly and is in no way a beginners plane.

I am only offering these plans, I have no control over how you build the sukhoi. I cannot guarantee that the sukhoi will fly well or even fly at all. All I can do is tell you about my experiences with my own sukhoi.
