A picture tube is a picture file consisting of either one image or many that can be place on any image you are working on with just a click of a button. Picture Tubes, often called tubes, consist of images that let you paint with images rather than with color. Tubes generally have a transparent background allowing tubes to blend into a picture effortlessly. You can customize the way tubes are placed on your image with a couple quick clicks on the tubes Option Palette.
How To Paint with a Picture Tube.
- 1. On the Tools Toolbar (located on the left hand side of the Work Station.) Choose:
- Picture Tube tool.

2. On the Tool Options Palette (across the top of your work station)click the tiny arrow next to the picture on the right hand side and a fly-out window will appear. Select the tube you wish to use.

- Note: If a tube consist of many images only the first image will show in the preview menu. Not all of them. To view all images, either paint with the tube or open the .psptube file with your browser.
3. If necessary you can adjust the following:
Scale (The Percentage you can reduce or enlarge each image. Tubes can be adjusted from 10% to 250%)
Step ( The distance in pixels between the center of each picture tube. Step can be adjusted from 1to500.)
Placement Mode (The way images are placed Continuous gives you evenly spaced images relative to the Step adjustment. Random gives you random spacing between the Step size set varying into 1 pixel.
Selection Mode ( How PSP picks each image in a tube with sets of images. Random selects images randomly. Incremental selects images one by one from top left working its way to the bottom right. Angular selects images based on the direction you drag the cursor. Pressure selects images based on the pressure you apply when using a pressure sensitive tablet. Velocity selects images based on the speed you move the cursor.
