JeffJeff was a founding member of the Picks who competed for 17 years before retiring out of the blue in August 1997. That sudden decision left the almighty Picks Gods scratching their heads. His start at the innocent age of 9 set the precedent for all young members who have joined since. Jeff collected four Picks titles and came close to winning a few others. He would rather forget that short field-goal attempt that was hooked wide left by the St. Louis Cardinals on the final Sunday in 1984. It would have beaten the Washington Redskins and lifted him into a first-place tie with a chance to dethrone Blaine in a tiebreaker. Ouch! The embattled veteran recovered from that terrible blow and racked up some impressive achievements of his own. Jeff's thrashing of Blaine and Pa in 1989 still stands as the largest margin of victory in Picks history -- a whopping 20 games! He also owns one of the treasured undefeated records with an 11-0 week in 1994. Jeff was the co-creator of much of the current Picks folklore, especially the Buccaneers passion to run wild in the beautiful Florida sunshine. He holds two of the 13 best records of all-time, going 134-66 in 1989 (No. 9) and 130-67 in 1993 (No. 13). Jeff's career record stands at 2,002-1,269 (.612). |
