Dad's birthday week or not, D.J. soars like
Rudolph
'Twas the Sunday before Blaine's birthday
When all through the house,
Not a creature skipped their picks,
Not counting Molly, Jazzy and maybe a mouse.
Blaine chose many promising teams,
Posting them on the website with care,
In hopes that a tremendous weekly record
Soon would be there.
Cute Girlie was nestled
All snug in first place,
While visions of her first Picks title
Put a big smile on her face.
But could D.J. take it
easy,
Let her dad win I do say?
Because he needs to catch up,
And this week was his special day.
Deej stayed
focused on her mission,
Knowing never to give in,
Because one sorry week of picks
Could tackle her short of a treasured win.
More rapid than the
Eagles to the end zones her teams came,
And she whistled and shouted and cheered them by name:
"Go Panthers! Go Giants! Go Raiders and Tampa Bay!
Yes Patriots! Yes Cardinals! A last-minute victory by Green
Bay!"
Her 11-4 record was tops for the week,
Making her 10-5 father simply look like a geek.
Uncle Mark was 11-4, too, trying to come from behind,
But buried in fifth place, a prayer he needs to find.
Girlie
celebrated Week 14, to her five-game lead gave a whistle,
And away she's flying proud, like the down of a thistle.
But I heard her exclaim as she soared out of sight:
"Happy Birthday to Dad, and to Dad a restless night!"
