WITH A SOFT VOICE SHE SAID, "LET US GO"Chapter 3It all started early Wednesday night when we were going to have dinner on January 4, 1995. Four days after new year. Suddenly, Emelyn was having labor pains. So we got ready to go to Delta Memorial Hospital in Antioch, CA. I got so excited that this moment finally came. When they checked Emelyn, one nurse said, "Go back home. It is not time yet. At home you can rest, eat and do your labor. You might come back tonight or in the morning." So we returned home.In the morning, Mom went to work, and my sister came from work. She helped Emelyn a lot. Then around 11:00 a.m., with a soft voice Emelyn said, "Let us go." Dad and I took her again to the hospital and this time Emelyn got admitted in the hospital. It was 7:10pm, when she started pushing. It lasted for two and a half-hour. At 9:35 p.m. Joslyn was born. The name Joslyn came from the combination of our names. The first three letters are from my name Jos in Joseph and the last three letters lyn in Emelym are from her mama. Her weight was six Lbs., 11.2 oz., and her measurements were length eighteen 3/4", head 35.5 cm., Chest 34 cm. WOW! I saw everything. It is amazing how a little baby comes out from the mother's womb. When the baby was coming out, I crawled in the front next to doctor to witness my baby birth. With tears of joy. The name Joslyn came from the combination of our names. The first three letters are from my name and the last three letters are from her mama. That next morning I thought I would sleep in late. But instead I woke up at 7:00 a.m. All of the excitement over the baby kept me awake a few times. The thrill that my wife and I have a child together. My Dad, my sister and me went back to the hospital after my sister helped me clean up and prepare my bedroom. It was about 3pm. As we were in the hospital heading up to the fourth floor, I was holding the car seat. When I was carrying the car seat, I felt proud having a big smile on my face. When people saw me with the car seat and the big smile on my face, I wanted to say, "I am a papa!" When we went to the room, Emelyn was up walking around and packing to come home. When we got in the room, I could see Dad and my sister's face as they attempted to change Joslyn. They were careful so not to mishandle such a delicate little baby. I cried with joy inside and now saw my wife as "mama." It was 4:30 p.m. when we arrived home.
This is her when Joslyn was a few weeks old and a picture of her now.
