The Grays River repeater is located about half way between Naselle and Cathlamet on Washington Highway 4. The site overlooks the Lower Columbia River valley, with coverage from Clatskanie to Astoria on the Oregon side, and Cathlamet to Naselle on the Washington side of the Columbia River.

The repeater itself is a GE Mastr-II continuous duty base station running about 30 watts output, and utilizes a two-antenna system, fed with 7/8" hardline, without a duplexer to maximize receiver sensitivity.

The repeater is linked into BeachNet, and is normally connected with the other dozen repeaters of the network. The link can be disconnected, converting this repeater to stand-alone status for emergency communications within Wahkiakum County.

We share the frequency with another repeater in the Willamette Valley. To reduce the chance of interference with this neighbor,
we ask that you not attempt to work this repeater from high ground, particularly in the Portland area.
Tower is free standing, supported by a substantial concrete block...
