| The Naselle site covers most of the major population centers of SW Pacific and NW Clatsop Counties. The GE MASTR-II continuous duty base station feeds a 9-dB antenna at the top of the tower (right-most in picture at right) through 100 feet of 7/8-inch Heliax. The remote base feature offers transceivers on the 144, 222 and 440 MHz bands. Although blocked to the northeast by higher mountains, the repeater and remote base work well from east, through south and west, to north from the site. In addition to the UHF repeater and remote base, a pair of VHF remote receivers is also located here to boost the coverage of the Megler and North Cove repeaters. Realities of coordination make the introduction of a new 2-meter repeater nearly impossible these days. However a secondary receiver is not so problematic, greatly enhancing the coverage of an existing machine. The Megler receiver is part of a voting system that automatically selects the best signal. The North Cove receiver requires changing your PL Tone to 114.8 Hz to select it. |
