Season 1: LA Raiders

Breaking the Sound Barrier

My first coach season is the LA Raiders. The Raiders have been my favorite team for quite a while, but like most of the Raider Nation, it's not because I live near Oakland or Los Angeles (I live near Buffalo, by the way. Go Bills!). I'm not exactly sure how I became a fan, but I think it has a lot to do with Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl. There's something about the Tecmo Raiders, whether it's the immaculate running of Bo Jackson, or names such as Howie Long and Tim Brown. This team just cries out, "Just win, baby!"

Well, for the most part.

While they do have some great players, they also have a lot of sucksters. Jackson and Hall of Famer Marcus Allen make up one the best rushing attacks in the game, but the Silver and Black also have one of those passing games that can make you rip your hair out (see Chicago Bears). Jay Schroeder is a mediocre QB if there ever was one, and while the receivers are fast, they lack in the hands department. The defense also has similar woes. LA has a decent secondary and one of the best D-lines in the game (with Saved by the Bell: The College Years' Bob Golic, Fox NFL Sunday's Howie Long, and Greg Townsend, who hasn't done a damn thing worth noting), but it's linebackers are crap. This team isn't the worst, but it isn't going to be a picnic either.
