When Grandpa Died

It was a cold winter January day in 1997. I was at school, my grandpa was at home lying in bed suffering from lung cancer and my grandma was right there by his side holding his hand and my mom was at work teaching a class. When all of a sudden my mom's friend Cathi came bursting through the door and my mom new right away that something was wrong with her daddy. So Cathi and her just hurried and hopped in Cathi's car and hurried to their house. My mom was all worried in the car.  She was like Cathi is he okay is he still with us. And Cathi was like yes he's still alive but we need to hurry and get there. When they got there my mom ran in there and started balling and she was so scared she didn't know what she would do without her daddy. So then after she got herself together she had Cathi drove over to my school to pick me up at school and I remember that before she told me she was like come on Kendra we gotta go and I refused and I said, "but mom we are having spaghetti for lunch today.” Then she took me into the back room and told me why we had to go so then I understood so then I got my things and I was in the car and I got there and he had already passed on. I was so sad. But he stayed active because he went to church on Sunday and died on Tuesday. But luckily I have a lot of good memories with him. But we [my family] know that he went to God. I know that a lot of people tried to help us through losing him but only one person really helped and that was GOD. I love God and will praise him as long as I shall live.

Note from Ann to all concerned:  I do take your prayer requests seriously. I do pray believing and knowing that distance is no problem with God, no wall is too high or too thick, that the Holy Spirit cannot come to your aid. I also know that Jesus is our intercessor knowing what is good for us and when my special prayer partner and I pray, we are basing results on the scripture: “Where two or more are gathered in my Name and agree on one thing, I will be in the midst of them.”

Scripturally speaking, we will prosper as our soul prospers. Another scripture which means a lot to me and I offer for consideration, “If my people will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear their voice and come to their rescue.”

Some of my memorized verses which I rely on:

  • Psalm 46:1  God is our refuge and strength, a present help in time of trouble.

  • Another favorite:  He that is within me (Holy Spirit) is greater than he (Satan) which is in the world.

  • Another favorite:  I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me.

  • Another favorite:  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. (Because there couldn’t be a shadow unless there was a light and Jesus is that light.)

  • Another favorite:  Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.

Praise the Lord!
