Jesus taught "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it:  Love your neighbor as yourself.  Matthew 22: 37-39

We are stronger Christians as we keep focused on God and not on circumstances - and by seeing people dedicated to the Christian walk of life. Someone has said 'Every cloud has a silver lining'; I believe it.  When you see something that needs to be done - you just do it!  Loving and serving mankind has a natural response as God's love flows into our lives and into the lives of others.  I have never had formal training in writing but as God via the Holy Spirit blesses me, I can put in writing words of encouragement to those who have a need whether physical, spiritual or materialistic.  I insist on living a simple way of life; my needs are less and less as the years go by.  As the Holidays and birthdays come and go, I impress on family and friends "If it's bigger than a feather or I can't eat it - buy something for yourself and tell me what I bought you!" Their greatest gift to me: THEIR presence and not THEIR presents!  I am aware of the increase in storage buildings for rent and garages too full of stuff to get the vehicles inside. Too much stuff: too many clothes, toys, gadgets etc. etc. etc.

With God's help, I hope to dispose of those things not needed in '04.  I avoid garage sales so I won't be tempted to buy for myself or others; I had one garage sale and I bought myself out before it opened!  Being sentimental, once it's given to me, I am reluctant to let it go!  I value an embroidered wall plaque:

'Dear house,

You're really very small-

Just big enough for love -

That's all!'

It is wonderful to be able to talk to God via prayer about our cares and concerns and let HIM take care of them in God's timing (God plus nothing equals faith!).  In closing, I am reminded of a chorus based on Acts 11:15.  I share:

SPIRIT of the living God,

Fall fresh on me.

Spirit of the living God,

Fall a-fresh on me.

Melt me, mold me, use me.

Spirit of the living God,

Fall a-fresh on me.

Dear God,

I need your help as I struggle to rid my life and home of STUFF!  I need only to go through each room to see the items that are dedicated to you.  It is difficult to 'let go' and I know I can trust you to get my priorities in order.  Others may be reading my life more than they are reading their Bible and I need to be laying up treasure in heaven.  I need to win my household and the lost around me.  I have work to do and to you be the glory for any good accomplished today.

In Jesus' name I pray,

Amen

Note from Ann to all concerned:  I do take your prayer requests seriously. I do pray believing and knowing that distance is no problem with God, no wall is too high or too thick, that the Holy Spirit cannot come to your aid. I also know that Jesus is our intercessor knowing what is good for us and when my special prayer partner and I pray, we are basing results on the scripture: “Where two or more are gathered in my Name and agree on one thing, I will be in the midst of them.”

Scripturally speaking, we will prosper as our soul prospers. Another scripture which means a lot to me and I offer for consideration, “If my people will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear their voice and come to their rescue.”

Some of my memorized verses which I rely on:

  • Psalm 46:1  God is our refuge and strength, a present help in time of trouble.

  • Another favorite:  He that is within me (Holy Spirit) is greater than he (Satan) which is in the world.

  • Another favorite:  I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me.

  • Another favorite:  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. (Because there couldn’t be a shadow unless there was a light and Jesus is that light.)

  • Another favorite:  Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.

Praise the Lord!
