THE ARMOR OF GOD

EPHESIANS 6:11

Regarding the ARMOR OF GOD, we have

  1. GOD'S WORD - the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT.

  2. the SHIELD OF FAITH - God plus nothing is faith!

  3. the HELMET OF SALVATION to protect our thoughts; where the mind goes, we go!

  4. the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS to protect our heart and its response to our circumstances; it isn't what happens to us but our attitude toward it; the indwelling HOLY SPIRIT will help us discern in making the right choice.

  5. the BELT OF TRUTH to assist us in conducting ourselves in a manner pleasing to God; our only purpose for being on earth is to glorify His name!

  6. FOOTGEAR to stand firm against attacks is needed as we rely on God to supply our every need to resist; we stand firm upon the foundation of God's word. We are to be alert for Satan goes 'to and fro' seeking whom he may devour. Temptation is not a sin; it is the choice we make and with self control we can remain strong in our faith and resist temptation. In putting on the armor of God, we can resist the fiery darts of the enemy. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Someone has said that we are to read the Bible as one would eat fish:  if we come to a bone (something we don't understand) lay it aside. As we continue reading the Word and listening to the preaching of the Word (God's word does not return void) we may become enlightened as to the true meaning. We mature on to the meat of the word for the milk of the word, (the more difficult to the easy to understand scripture). We will be strengthened and able to 'reach out to others' and share the Good News! The truth will set them free; free from fear, doubt, discouragement and the unknown and what if's! God has given us grace (undeserved favor) to live each day victoriously; we are not to worry about tomorrow for scripturally speaking 'tomorrow will have enough trouble of its own and sufficient grace is supplied daily."

In closing, we are to be alert, keep focused on God and not on prevailing circumstances; He will enable us to persevere and resist victoriously - and to God be the glory!

Note from Ann to all concerned:  I do take your prayer requests seriously. I do pray believing and knowing that distance is no problem with God, no wall is too high or too thick, that the Holy Spirit cannot come to your aid. I also know that Jesus is our intercessor knowing what is good for us and when my special prayer partner and I pray, we are basing results on the scripture: “Where two or more are gathered in my Name and agree on one thing, I will be in the midst of them.”

Scripturally speaking, we will prosper as our soul prospers. Another scripture which means a lot to me and I offer for consideration, “If my people will humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear their voice and come to their rescue.”

Some of my memorized verses which I rely on:

  • Psalm 46:1  God is our refuge and strength, a present help in time of trouble.

  • Another favorite:  He that is within me (Holy Spirit) is greater than he (Satan) which is in the world.

  • Another favorite:  I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me.

  • Another favorite:  Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. (Because there couldn’t be a shadow unless there was a light and Jesus is that light.)

  • Another favorite:  Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.

Praise the Lord!
