JBU Used Car Lot To Be Constucted! Siloam 2nd Graders Replaced With Elven Entertainers Defending the Dollar: Greenspan to be Replaced by Schwarzenegger |
Dear PhrankDear Mr. End Times Editor, I am curious as to your publication's stance on the "JBU bubble." Personally, I feel that JBU does not lend its students enough exposure to the real world. We're all adults, right? We should be free to make our own decisions about what we watch on TV and at the movie theater, what we wear, when we go out, when we come in, whether or not I do homework, what time I go to bed, and so forth. I'm so sick of the university trying to micromanage my life! I should be free to watch MTV, the History Channel, and so on if I want to. I'm an adult. I should be allowed to bring a bottle of Wild Turkey back to my suite and go bottoms-up; it's my choice. What ever happened to basic human rightsrights enjoyed by students much larger, more affordable state schools? The JBU Bubble must go! Perturbed, J. Alvin Dear Perturbed, I see your point completely. Why should you be forced to abstain from drinking and watching your favorite pop-culture TV shows when you could easily transfer to a state school that embraces such behavior and is much more affordable? JBU should not be forcing you to attend itself! While we're at it, let's add to your list of concerns "the need to install on-campus fallout shelters for protection against a Soviet missile strike aimed at ridding the world of CCCU schools." Dear Mr. End Times Editor, I have heard stories of the university sending professors and students (who are paid cash under the table) to monitor other JBU students at such locations as SAC activities, movie theaters, and so forth. The other night I was at Wal-Mart, and I actually ran into one of my professors. Can you tell me if the administration was using him to spy on me? Paranoid, North Hall Dear Paranoid, JBU has never highly valued ethical behavior or individual autonomyas its current state shows (see Perturbed's letter). My guess is that the university is spying on you, though none of our sources can confirm this allegation; I am basing this assumption merely on the fact that professors rarely shop or do anything recreational. I suggest that you keep a sharp eye out for anyone suspicious. I shall notify you if I learn anything more. Write to the End Times Editor at |
