| I found this school year to be much more strenuous and stressful than last year, but overall, still better. Despite taking four honors and accelerated classes this year, I actually found it more motivating. I liked the rigorousness and difficulty of the courses that I took, which include AP European History, Pre-AP English, Algebra Accelerated (for the first semester), and Biology Accelerated. Though I could have taken regular classes and probably would have gotten straight As, I chose much more arduous courses, because I figured that regular classes would be boring.
This year I took my first AP exam, and found it to be much more difficult that I had thought it to be. Also, I discovered that cramming for the exam does not work at all. In turn, I faced the consequences and had a hard time with the exam, though I tried answering all questions and writing all essays as best as I could. Taking the AP European History exam prepared me in anticipating for what future AP exams will be like (e.g. the AP U.S. History exam).
As for clubs and extracurricular activities, I only joined one, because it was the only one that seemed appealing to me. Next year, however, this will be a completely different story. I will broaden my interests and join many more clubs. My career interests deal with science and medicine, so I thought it only perfect to join GEM-SET (Girls E-Mentoring in Science, Engineering, and Technology). The main goal of GEM-SET is to help female students in seeking answers to career-related questions, which are answered on-line by women already in the SET fields. We had several club meetings during the year, and even had one field trip with Mr. Ulloas pre-engineering class. For the field trip, we went to the High Tech Fair in Del Mar this past March, and once there, we learned about many different companies and corporation in the science, engineering, and technological industries and also how get additional information if we were interested.
