"Journal [for Week] 7"

Journals are given numbers, corresponding to the number of weeks we have been in that class. Every day in Sociology, we are given a specific prompt or topic to write about for the first fifteen minutes of the period. During this time, we are to write a minimum of fifteen lines, which seems overwhelming at first (like it did to me), but after getting used to the routine, it is not that difficult. Now, I can easily write fifteen lines in a few minutes. Since we only meet about three times a week, we only have three journals written for each week. Every Friday, the journal is turned in, with highlights showing important points we wrote. We then trade with a classmate nearby, and they comment on those points, and whether or not they agree, they write it. The three topics we discussed for this particular journal were to write down the folkways, mores, and laws dealt with in the book we were reading, Fast Food Nation, what type(s) of cultural universals are increasing with importance (such as technology or clothing), and lastly we were to define off the top of our heads, what folkways, mores, and laws were. We also had to give examples to make it clear that we understood what each norm was.
"Food Lab" lab report

This lab report was assigned after we completed a lab. For the lab, we compiled fifty different foods and using different methods, tested each for monosaccharide (simple sugars), polysaccharide (starches), protein, fat, and pH levels. To determine the presence for monosaccharide, we used Benedicts Solution; for polysaccharide, used iodine, Biurets Solution for protein, wiped the food on a piece of paper for fat, and used litmus paper to find pH levels. There was a specific format that me and the rest of my class had to follow. This included the title, purpose, materials, procedure, results, and conclusion. The procedure was a step-by-step account of what I did in the lab. The results, which were recorded on a chart, show the specific foods tested and what came of them. In the conclusion, I was to bring up any possible errors for the lab, or why results would not come out the right way. I believe that the reason that I received a C on this assignment was because it was my first time writing a lab report, and did not know exactly what to type. In other words, I was just inexperienced.
