Lone Star Beagle Rescue

Made up of the former "Abilene/San Angelo Area Beagle Rescue" and "Beagles of Big D" combined, it is a rescue organization dedicated to saving beagles in the State of Texas. Our rescue serves the Dallas/Fort Worth and West Texas areas of the "Lone Star" State. However we rely heavily on networking with other Beagle and Hound breed rescues across Texas and beyond. Hence, the name "Lone Star Beagle Rescue"

We are very active and sucessfull providing refferal service for municipal shelters, humane societies and other rescue orgs, all breed, etc., as well as helping individuals coming forth with a beagle they need to find a home for, such as owner surrenders or a good samaratain that found a homeless beagle. Of course we are happy to assist those families in the military that must relocate and thus need help in finding a home for thier beagle. We also work alongside other Beagle rescue organizations within the state and beyond. These include, but are not limited to the following:

Who we are

We are a non-profit adoption & referral service specifically for homeless, abandoned and unwanted Beagles and other hound breeds. We currently have a limited number of Beagles in our foster program and many, many more waiting to placed in either foster homes or forever homes.

Business

The majority of our finances comes from adoption fees. This will fund most routine rescue operations such as basic vetting for a new beagle. Much of our funding also come from the personal pockets of our members and volunteers.

We do receive generous donations from a number of sources. These indeed help us in a pinch with special beagles that would not otherwise receive proper veterinary care. We try to stress it is for the *beagle* not to us as an organization. Other special donations have gone towards heartworm treatment or emergency boarding... or even a certain beagle from another rescue that is in need. Sometimes we get an extra check from a happy adoptive family or even a gratefull owner surrender happy that we found a good home for a beagle they love very much but could no longer care for.

So thanks to all of the above, LSBR has the adequate funds to operate sucessfully!

People

Money is nice and we could not do with out. However a rescue does not run by itself with only lip service and funds. It take hands on dedicated staff of volunteers, foster parents and administrative members each with special talents vital to the sucess of our team. We depend on members that are actively involved in the day to day rescue operations within LSBR, or from other beagle rescues as well as members from other breed organizations. All these people assist us in a beagles hour of greatest need.

Because we are growing LSBR is also in need of filling other job "Positions" such as Shelter coordinator, accountant and surrender specialist. For now our current members will fill these duties best we can. And of course just like every other rescue organization in existense, we are allways allways in need of Foster Homes to take in and care for desperate beagles that just need a head start on a new life.

Network of Hounds

Today we have even more beagles posted as available for adoption than ever before. Plus Hounds of other breeds such as Bassets, dachshunds and coonhounds. LSBR is rapidly extending our networks to include other rescue organizations. We hope to expand rescue efforts and services farther west towards El Paso and northwest to Panhandle. If anyone in those areas would like to manage rescue operations in those locales contact us asap. We continue to work alongside other Beagle Rescue Organizations within the state and beyond.
