Hey Lashie!

I just heard Essence today...well, all but the last song- a friend here at work loaned it to me and I had to give it back, but I heard enough to let me know that I really liked it! It's a bit slight lyrically, but I don't think she's ever written better melodies, and the ensemble playing is consistently good throughout. I don't think she's lost her lyric writing ability-on the contrary, I think she's held back intentionally in order to establish a mood on each song, and I think she's succeeded admirably!

And even better, I found a copy the other day at my comics shop for 9 bucks, so I'll be pickiing it up soon, for sure!

ZLS,
I am SOOOOOO glad to hear you enjoyed the cd.

As for that last song you didn't get to hear: Prepare to be blown away. Lu takes the breakup song to a totally new, spiritual level on BROKEN BUTTERFLIES. It's beautiful, that's all I can say.

$9 is a steal- go for it!

You know what's a little sad? Some of the posters from early on in this thread, like Lumberfox, JWB, and Grae, no longer have profiles -- it looks like TPTB delete IDs that don't post frequently enough. So, unless those guys (and others) are registered under other names, they're gone from the DCMB universe...

First they steal our boards, then they steal our identities...

It's Zero Hour all over again!

Please God let me not come back as a snake.

Guess this'll be one of my last (if not THE last of my) posts on this great old thread. This was after all the one that marked the birth of the LMB. I dearly hope someone can preserve at least the early pages of this sentimental favorite. Rereading them is quite awesome as you can see how things were in the beginning, how later developments had their genesis, how they've changed drastically in the interim....and how Stu wasn't there, to his eternal sorrow .

I'll miss this old thread and this wonderful old board as well. But the LMB will go on...

Oh...and lest I forget---loved the "All in the Family adaptation, Stu, except:

LumberFox and Carggaphile,
Cobie hung around a while,
Lardy's antics made us smile.
Those were the days!

Being grouped with those other guys makes it seem I'm a thing of the past! Yeesh! Can't a guy have some computer problems without being pronounced a war casualty?

YEESH!!!!

You're very much an important part of the present too! You're our Cosmic Boy, after all.

In the background: photos of the LMB sitting astride a horse, next to a biplane, etc., while treacly Celine Dion music plays.

The next scene: the LMB is shown tossing the Emerald Ass (which it had kept all these years) into the void where the L* board had once been.

Well, I had considered:

LumberFox and Carggaphile,
Cobie hung around a while,
Lardy's antics made (and still make) us smile.
Those were the days!

But it just sounded too clunky, y'know?!
