Houdini is one of my favorite songs rom the Dreaming...I got in a small tiff with author Greil Marcus over his interpretation of the cover in an article once! Scandalous rumors? Do tell! I haven't heard any! IP: Logged |

The rumours. One, that since she split with (his name escapes me now-but she had been with him since she was sixteen)that she now believes herself to actually be Cathy (from Wuthering Heights) and is quite mad. And two, that she has grown incredibly big in size (I got this from a close friend who works as a picture reseacher for various news agencies and magazines, and has seen the pictures)and no longer wants to be seen in public. But as I said, only rumours. I also heard that she was in colaboration with Bjork on a few projects. <I hear him IP: Logged |

She's always big between albums! I love Houdini too. I liked Rocket on the Sensual World album and bits of the Red Shoes album, especially Eat the Music. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Lash! that's great! I accidentally stumbled upon that cartoon while looking around for something else and I was hooked...I've been preaching the gospel ever since, trying to get people to check it out. They roll and rock , and rock and roll and roll and rock....! Terrence, BBC-I mean Seahorse: I read on a Kate Bush website that she had a baby last year...which partially explains the delay in recording and the apparent weight gain. But there may be a grain of truth in that rumor about her breakup with her longtime guitarist-I can't remember his name, either-Alan Murphy, or something like that...she certainly hasn't been keeping a high public profile, that's for sure! I would love to hear the results of a collaboration with Bjork, an artist whose music I am sometimes crazy about, and sometimes indifferent to, but always find interesting...I always wished she would hook up with Robert Fripp or Bill Nelson, too. Her stuff with Prince was massively disappointing, though, so maybe she just doesn't play well with others. IP: Logged |

Zoe (you don't mind me calling you that-do you?) What did you think of her collaborations with Peter Gabriel? The single Don't Give Up and backing vocals on Games Without Frontiers. There was also her duet with Rowan Atkinson for the Secret Policemans Ball, that I heard, or had played to me rather, for the first time just last year. I never heard anything about her giving birth, and almost suspect it is just another rumour. The name Del Palmer keeps popping into my head re. her ex. and listening to The Red Shoes Album, I got the impression that a lot of it was about the breakup. IP: Logged |

Haven't heard anything about her having a baby either. Yes, Del was her long-time partner, and you're write about the Red Shoes songs - especially You're the Only One I Want, which is especially depressing when you know it's about a real relationship ending. ------------------ IP: Logged |

yeah, it was Del Palmer...I knew it was one of those guys! I liked her work with Peter Gabriel...those were both outstanding songs, especially Games Without Frontiers. I liked that whole album (P.G. III)...I think it's his best solo work. Here's the link on which I found the baby news: http://www.clubi.ie/twomey/katebush.htm and you can call me Zoe if you like...some just abbreviate it ZLS. You were right. I checked out a couple of sites earlier today and found out that she had given birth to a baby boy, Bertie, last year. That was a surprise. I don't know if you saw it anywhere, but there was a tribute album, I Want To Be Kate, announced on one site. It seems to be by a number of bands & singers from Chicago. Anyone know anything about it? I have this morbid curiosity, and was toying with the idea of purchasing it. IP: Logged |

While still on a Kate Bush tip, and inspired by all this talk, I decided to spend the evening listening to all the albums. Just for the heck of it, here are my favourite tracks from each album excluding singles; The Kick Inside The Kick Inside Lionheart In Search of Peter Pan Never For Ever All We Ever Look For The Dreaming Suspended In Gaffa Hounds Of Love The Morning Fog Sensual World The Fog The Red Shoes Why Should I Love You IP: Logged |

well, if we've got to exclude singles (Big Sky is probably my favorite cut from Hounds, for instance), here goes: Kick Inside: Oh To Be In Love Lionheart: Oh England My Lionheart Never For Ever: Blow Away (it mentions Marc Bolan AND Sandy Denny...sure way to get my approval!) Dreaming: Get Out Of My House! Hounds of Love: Watching You Without Me Sensual World: the title cut Red Shoes: probably Why Should I Love You-a fine track, and next to Rubberband Girl, the catchiest thing on the CD...but I expected a lot more from a collaboration with Prince... I have heard of but not heard the I Wanna Be Kate CD...lots of indie bands, I believe...maybe I'll run across it some day used and pick it up. IP: Logged |

Hi ZLS All great picks, but you cheated on Sensual World. The title track was the first release from the album, in the UK anyway. There are a lot of great B sides as well. I wish they could be collected together. T. IP: Logged |

quote: you're absolutely right, Terrence my friend! I'm doubly embarrassed because I own the Aspects of the Sensual World CD-5...I just forgot! Love and Anger was the only song that got any airplay over here anyway, so that's the only one I remembered. IIRC, there was a video for Sensual World that was kinda cool...got played on MTV, and not just on 120 Minutes, either! so with that in mind, Ill cheat a little again and name This Woman's Work as my favorite non-single track from SW, even though I know it was also on the She's Having A Baby soundtrack, and was used during what was probably the most effective scene in the movie!
