| LAW and ORDER Teenage gangs have been around since the beginning of time but we have experienced an enormous upsurge in recent years both in the number of gangs and the viciousness of their antisocial behaviour and crime. The biggest factor that runs concurrent with this is the huge rate of fatherless children bought up in households of sole mother custody, where boys as young as FOUR years old are prescribed dexamphetamine medication because their mother can't cope with their hyperactivity, and girls are prescribed SSRI antidepressants to curb their self-harming actions and/or the threat of suicide. At home, children are taught to lie (by example) and too often are victims of Parental Alienation that is exccasserbated by the winner-take-all ethos of the Family Law industry professionals who stir up the muck to enhance their remuneration. Children need a sense of belonging and the gangs become their quasi family where they at least feel appreciated and wanted rather than just being "HIS brat". There is no one-pill-fix-all cure for the ails of the world but reforming Family Law will come very close to doing the job of stopping kids from running off the rails. Returning the Stolen Fathers to their children is definitely a step in the right direction. Children need BOTH parents. A rebuttable presumption of Equal Time Shared Parenting is the only intelligent solution to this perplexing problem. |
