LEADERSHIP SKILLS PROJECTS

Region 2, 3 & 4 Leo Key Officers, BOD, Members & Leo Advisors School

Date:

22 August 2004

Time: 9.00AM - 4.00PM
Members’ Involvement: 16 Leos

One of the club’s signature project, Leo Key Officers, BOD, Members & Advisors school is organized this year for the second time with the extension of invitation to the Leos from Region 4. Attended by roughly about 15 Lions and 150 Leos, the school was held in SK Methodist Brickfield (P), started from 9.00am in the morning and ended at 2.00pm in the afternoon. 22nd Aug 2004

The project started with the Opening Ceremony including speeches from OC, Presiding Officer and GOH. Then the first session began with an introductory session from Lion Sashekala, DC For Leo Clubs/Lions Opportunity for Youth. Lion Sashekala first introduced about herself, followed by the briefing on general information of being a Leo member and ended with requirements that she was hoping for to see from the Leos in the district. She also introduced the Regional DC For Leos Clubs Lion Ang Moo Bok and Lion Foo See Yow to all the Leos presented. Lion Ang Moo Bok then took over the session and delievered a short session on the Lions with PDRM Project that was strongly encouraged by the district this year.

As soon as the general session in the hall was over, all Leos were adjourned to the classrooms based on their respective positions for the key officers school whereby the BOD and members were staying in the hall for the BOD / Members School. President school was conducted by Lion Foo Hon Lim who was the DC For Leo Clubs last year, instead of explaining what Leadership is all about, Lion Foo requested all the Leos to answer a few questions and presented themselves in front of everyone which indirectly developed the leadership and public speaking skill within them.

Lion Chong Chin Teck conducted the Secretary school. He emphasized to the Leos a lot on the paper work, and submission of reports to the District or even International. On the other hand, Lion Ng Tuck Heng conducted the Treasurer school, for the second time he is conducting the school, he also did an excellent job in introducing the duties of Treasurer and the importance of maintaining a well-recorded club account. Lion Simon Soh stressed on the BOD & Members’ support and involvement in the club as well as the opportunity of being a leader by chairing different small scale projects even when they are not President or Key officers in the club.

Besides, Lion Sashekala, with assistance of Lion Ang Moo Bok and Lion Foo See Yow, also had a fruitful discussion with all the Leo Advisors.

All sessions ended at about 1.30 pm and the Leos gathered in the hall for a short closing ceremony. Lunch was prepared for them in the canteen after that.
