The Design of Club Official Website is a long term project headed by the
Information Technology Director Leo Goh Reebin. This project includes 5
different stages of planning, designing, developing, launching and maintaining
the website.
The website is fully completed and equipped with the following information :-
1) Messages from Presidents & Past Presidents, as well as the Lions.
2) Information related to Leo program.
3) Club’s Information including history, BOD list and etc.
4) Contacts/Directory for key club members.
5) Projects Information including reports for all completed projects.
6) Calendar for all upcoming projects.
The launching of the website was held during the 2nd Anniversary Fellowship
Dinner of the club to represent another meaningful achievement, and how far
we’ve come in the past 2 years.
A special Flash Presentation was designed by the IT committee for the launching
purposes. Lion Alex Yeap, as representative for Lions Club of KL Vision City
President, officially launched the website by pressing the start button on the
laptop prepared and then, the Flash Presentation started. The flash presentation
included some snapshots on the major activities the club has organized in the
past 2 years, the achievement during the Leo Forum, and of course, what the
members are looking forward to in the time to come, and finally the official URL
and the loading of new website.
The launching of the website indicates the completion of the project for the
first 4 stages and the maintaining stage will be continuously carried out by the
IT committee for the rest of the year by updating and renewing the information
on the website on a regular basis.
The URL of the official club website is http://www.klperennial.cjb.net.

Renewal
of Club’s Official Website

Our club's official website was launched in October 2004 during the club
anniversary by Lion Alex Yeap, 1st Vice President of Lions Club KL Vision City,
and has been operating for a total of 5 months. The previous version of website
consisted the list of contents as below :-
1) Messages from Leo Presidents & Past Presidents
2) Information related to Leo program
3) Club’s Information including history, current BOD and past BOD line-up.
4) Projects Information including reports for all completed projects.
5) Calendar for all upcoming projects.
6) Contacts/Directory for key club members.
However, due to the increase of visitors and the numbers of comments we received
from the members, Leos and Lions stating that the previous version of website
did not content sufficient and updated information, as well as the various
problems and difficulties they faced as a result of the lack of
user-friendliness design.
A new IT committee was set up again to evaluate the above problems and then
decided to renew the entire website by putting in more relevant contents,
information and interactive features at the same time.
The IT Committee spent a total of 20 days from the beginning of February until
19 February 2005 to complete the website renewal. On top of the existing
contents, the new version of website were added with new features and contents
as below:-
1) Each club member will be given a personal email address '[email protected]'
and can be logged in and sign up from the club website.
2) Search Engine for visitors to search for a particular info on the site.
3) Guestbook, Mini Poll, Message Forums & Online Chatroom to allow members and
visitors to interact, comment and exchange ideas via the website itself.
4) Newly improved Calendar with all updated upcoming projects and schedule.
5) Photo albums to include all the past projects photos and to be shared among
the members.
6) Site map to guide the visitors through the website
7) Messages from Leo Advisors, Lions President, DC Leos and District Governor.
8) Hall of Fame listing all the awards received by KL Perennial in the past 2
years.
9) Projects report rearranged based on different categories.
In terms of design, the brand new design with the concept color of grey toning
was done with the user’s comfortability of eye sight in mind; using a less
contrast of colors so that it wouldn’t causes the user to feel tired easily on a
long hour surfing.
All contents and links on the site have also been located evenly by using tables
so that the users would not find it messy to search for any information from the
website. The new mouse over feature will highlight a particular link/text in
dark grey background and changes the font color into white when it was pointed
by the mouse cursor which will also directly enhances the users’ navigation.
We hoped that this renewal of website will not only be another effort from the
IT committee to further building up the image of the club but also another large
step of us moving towards the new era of information technology. With all the
new interactive features we included, our website will be functioning as more
than just web pages but actually a web portal for our members as well as the
other visitors to get together, exchanging ideas and keeping themselves updated.
And of course, even our members-at-large who are all the way in Europe or
Australia can still be part of it and continuously being informed of the latest
projects/activities from time to time.
Besides the objective of web presentation, we strongly believed that this new
website will also be able to operate as a platform of unity to strengthen the
bond between the old and new members in the club.
The completion of website renewal was officially announced by Leo President Leo
Chua Yee Kuan on the 19th February during our club’s Chinese New Year
Fellowship. The new website can be viewed online at :-
