Another example of the sleek, stylish craftsmanship of Naboo, the Naboo yacht used by
Senator Amidala was elegant and fast; the perfect personal transport.
A somewhat modest vessel when compared to the large
Royal Starships or J-type Cruisers, the Naboo yacht was designed not as a diplomatic platform, but as a discreet escape vessel. Though its chromium hull would suggest a ship exclusive to the royal family, the Naboo yacht was given to Senator Amidala due to her high, respected status. The small royal yacht was specifically given to Padm for her undercover travels while avoiding the increasing dangers of the Separatist movement. The ship's narrow profile and sheltered sublight engines granted it considerable sensor stealth abilities. Like other Naboo starships, it was very fast, and although unarmed, it carried strong deflector shields. The smallest non-fighter vessel in the Theed hangars, the royal yacht had simplified systems to reduce maintenance time, and could be discreet enough to forego armed escorts as the larger, diplomatic vessels had. Even though the yacht was not a formal royal transport as the Royal Starship was, it still featured a throne room for the reigning monarch to keep a little regality.
As Queen Jamillia rarely ventured away from Naboo's domestic affairs, her Naboo yacht was ready for Padm to use during the leadup to the Clone Wars. She and
Anakin Skywalker used it to travel to Tatooine, after Anakin realised his mother was in pain. After a short stay on the planet, Padm piloted the ship to nearby Geonosis to rescue Obi-Wan Kenobi. The ship was hidden in a vent near a Geonosian droid factory while Padm, Anakin, C-3PO and R2-D2 explored the strange world
