| CLONETROOPER Species: Human clone Born: 13-0 BE (32-19 BBY) Birthplace: Kamino Homeworld: Kamino, Coruscant Affiliation: Galactic Republic Weapon: DC-15 blaster rifle Vehicle: Acclamator-class Cruiser, LAAT/i Gunship, AT-TE Debut: Attack of the Clones Though they proved the might of the Republic on countless worlds, and won the terrible Clone Wars against the Confederacy, all the clonetroopers in the galaxy could not stop one man from destroying everything they had fought so hard to maintain. Created by the expert cloners on Kamino, the clonetroopers were trained by the deadly Jango Fett and outfitted for war by Rothana Heavy Engineering. Each clone was a perfect genetic duplicate of the host, Fett, though all were made less independant than Jango. This gave them great concentration in battle, and made them similar to droids in the respect that they would carry out their commands or they would die trying - no alternative. They also wore 20-piece customised versions of the Mandalorian battle armour Fett wore, though the original clonetrooper armour was heavy and unwieldly compared to later versions. Fortunately, the clones could handle it; each clone was identical in form, physical prowess, stamina and mental capacity, though special units were created with advanced skills for command posts. In order to meet the criteria of Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas - who ordered the creation of a clone army for the Republic - the Kaminoan cloners used growth acceleration to grow clones in half the time it would take for a human being to grow. Thus, in the ten years between the start of the project and the clone army's first engagement, on Geonosis, ten thousand soldiers had been bred, with a million more well on the way. It was just as well, as the clonetroopers first battle paved the way for the three-year Clone Wars, which took the lives of clones, Jedi and other beings alike. Though the clonetroopers won the battle for the Republic, they later helped secure its demise; the unknowing clonetroopers, who responded directly to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, were used to create his New Order, and became the stormtroopers of his new Empire. |
