The arrival of the massive
Acclamator-class troopships at the Battle of Geonosis marked a new era in the galaxy; one filled with mass-produced starships and industrial takeovers - a far cry from the elegance that had fallen before it.
    The
Acclamator-class transports were capable of carrying 16,000 clonetroopers, 36 mobile assault cannons, 48 AT-TE walkers, 80 gunships, 320 speeder bikes and room to spare. These ships were gigantic, though later versions were bigger still. As well as being a transport vessel, the Acclamator also acted as a command ship. Clone commanders could coordinate their forces from the bridge, and provide covering fire with the ship's ample array of laser cannons. If needed, the ship could even preform the infamous Base Delta Zero, which reduced the crust of a planet to molten slag. This was a spectacle not seen in the Republic until the Clone Wars.
However, the command was used by the
Acclamator's sucessors later on; from these military transports grew the Victory, Imperial and even Super Star Destroyers, mainstays of the Galactic Empire. Due to the sucess of Acclamators in the Clone Wars, rival companies began creating their own cruisers and warships, such as the Kuat Star Dreadnaught and of course the Imperial capital ships. Such powerful warships had been used centuries earlier, but only for protection of planets, not as weapons of war. Bringing back the trans-galactic warships was, for many, an ominous innovation...
