THE GALACTIC DATABASE |
THE CLONE WARS Location: Geonosis, various Time: 3-0 BE (22-19 BBY) Sides: Galactic Republic & Jedi vs Confederacy of Independant Systems Victor: Galactic Republic Debut: Attack of the Clones The greatest battles the galaxy has ever known, the Clone Wars spanned three years and the entire Republic. Though the Confederacy was defeated, for the Republic it was also a heavy loss. Started on the Techno Union world of Geonosis, the Clone Wars first sprung from Count Dooku's seperatist movement. As more and more star systems joined the Count, the Republic began debating whether to introduce an army to aid the Jedi in stopping the secessionists. After Obi-Wan Kenobi reported a clone army had been created for the Republic on Kamino, and later that the seperatists were preparing for war, the debate was resolved. Master Yoda deployed the Army of the Republic on Geonosis. Though the Confederacy was routed, Yoda saw the battle not as a victory, but only the beginning of a terrible war. The Confederacy managed to regroup, and began launching attacks all over the galaxy. Republic worlds such as Kamino, Naboo and Kashyyyk were targeted, while the clonetroopers themselves struck back at Confederate bases on Muunilinst, Thule and Raxus Prime. With strike and counter-strike, the war carried on for three years, and still Dooku had not been captured. However, the Republic finally prevailed; Dooku was killed, and the Clone Wars were ended. But though the Confederacy was gone, a new enemy rose up to challenge the victors...one born from the Republic itself. Chancellor Palpatine declared a state of martial law, and proclaimed a New Order. Now that the Clone Wars had diminished the Confederacy and the Jedi, and had bolstered support for Palpatine, his rise to power was unstoppable. A dark shroud enveloped the dying Republic. |

The Clone Wars In order to show the Great Clone Wars in all their glory, LucasFilm devised a 'real-time' Clone Wars project; i.e, as there are three years between AOTC and Episode 3, so too is the Clone Wars project going on for three years - starting with AOTC, through EU material and ending in Episode 3 |
