The standard-issue blaster rifle of the Republic clonetroopers, the DC-15 is an advanced, powerful plasma gun that is deadly in the hands of the trained clonetroopers.
Instead of relying on projectile ammunition for their blasters, clonetroopers are able to use Tibanna gas to power the DC-15. These cartridges can fire 500 plasma shots, and each blue bolt is capable of destroying a Droideka or a Super Battle Droid. Because of the gas cartridges, clonetroopers don't have to carry ammunition around, but to compensate, the gun is notoriously hard to aim due to the instability of plasma bolts - though a sniper scope is fitted on each gun to try and minimise this problem.
In order to get the best results, the Kaminoans made sure each clone was trained to handle the heavy, erratic rifles. Because of the weight, a smaller version of the DC-15 was created, to be used as a blaster pistol, though the features of the rifle remained. The clonetroopers used DC-15 rifles and blasters throughout the Clone Wars. |
