1990 **** 192 mins. (DVD version 187 mins.)

This is an excellent made-for-television adaptation of Stephen King's best novel (in my opinion, his best novel). Seven kids battle an unnameable evil and grow up only to do it again. The production value of this film is outstanding for a made-for-television film. NOTE: steer clear of the DVD version. It cuts out the last shot of the first half and the first part of the second half and sticks widescreen bars at the top and bottom of the picture in a foolish attempt to make the film seem like one real film. I know the VHS contatins the film in its original complete two parts. I don't know if the laserdisc releases do, though.
Not Rated; contains scary elements that might frighten small children.
