A RETURN TO
SALEM'S
LOT

1987 101 mins. BOMB

I must say that this is one scary film.

It's scary that there is acutally someone out there who thought that this was a good film.

This is, without a doubt, one of the worst films ever made. This is, really, Larry Cohen's foolish idea of what Salem's Lot should have been. This is not, really, remotely related to Stephen King's novel or the original film. A divorced father and his son go to Salem's Lot only to find that all of its inhabitants are vampires. So, they set about trying to kill them all. Whoop-ti-doo. One thing that popped into my mind after the first scene is this: if there is, even, one good performance in this film, it will stick out like a sore thumb. However, every performance is terrible. The story is terrible. The killings are terrible. In fact, in one scene, it's obvious that Michael Moriarty rams a wooden stake into the ground beside the vampire instead of into it's heart. He didn't even ram it into the ground near the guy's chest; he rammed it into the ground beside the vampire's stomach. I could go on forever about how terrible this film is. I'm sure that Stephen King is embarrassed that this film was ever even thought of.
Rated R for gory violence, language, nudity, and sex.
