THE
DEAD ZONE
2001 **** 83 mins.
This is, actually, the first two episodes of the television series The Dead Zone, which is inspired by the novel by Stephen King. They are edited together seamlessly to create a stand alone film.
I'm glad that someone saw that the only way to do a good version of The Dead Zone was to make it into a television series. This pilot covers Johnny Smith's (Anthony Michael Hall) relationship to Sarah Bracknell (Nicole de Boer), the crash, the coma, the recovery, and the serial killer. The pacing is much better done than the original film version. I'd like to see more of the series after watching this pilot.
Rated R for absolutely no reason at all that I could see.
