SWAMI RANGANATHANANDA
Revered Swami Ranganathananda has given number of lectures related to education. Some of his ideas on education are concluded as given below :
Education is training the mind and not stuffing the brain.
Education should develop 'Vikasita vyaktitva' (developed personality) in child.
We need to develop traditional, social, ethical, spiritual and moral values through education.
Several science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology should be there in content of education.
The chief aim of education is man making, character building and assimilation of ideas.
Concentration, Self-discipline, listening, understanding are the main methods of education.
To make Indian Society dynamic, we need to educate women as much men.
Religion is necessary basis of education. Service to mankind is the highest goal of religious education.
Our countrymen need creative thinking to achieve all round development. It is the teachers' responsibility to train children to think creatively.
Through education, we can achieve human development. Teachers should inspire the children and the youth to step into national development.
We have many problems by our wrong concept of our freedom. We can solve all these problems through education. Again it is the responsibility to train the children to solve all problems.
Thus Revered Swami Ranganathananda expressed some principles of education through his extempore lectures. As educators, we need to understand his principles and practice to make effective education system in our country.
