Two SRN 4 Mark III type Hovercrafts are involved.
The two sisterships are also worldwide the two largest Hovercrafts, each can take 360 passengers and 50 cars across. With four Rolls Royce engines they reached a max. speed of 60 knots.
The connection between Dover and Calais was made in 35 minutes.
Both ships where the:

'The Princess Anne'

The Superseacat is a monohull (single hull) fastferry which can take 674 passengers and 148 cars.
The ship is a real design piece.
The outlook of the ship was an idea of the famous industrial designer Pininfarina, who also draws the lines of Ferrari and Alfa Romeo.

'SuperSeaCat Two'

'SuperSeaCat Three'

In 1998 the 81 meter Seacat re-opend the historical route between Ostend and Dover. It is a fastferry of the catamarantype with double bow. The ships made the crossing in only two hours. They are the:

'Rapide'

'Diamant'

The 74 meter Seacat was the first which was able to transport cars.
Hoverspeed was also the first company to use similar fastferries.
From 1990 to 1998 this fastferry was the proud holder of "Hales Trophy for the Blue Riband of the North Atlantic", because she crossed the Atlantic Ocean in only 3 days, 7 hours and 54 minutes.
This means an average speed of 36,6 knots.
