GETTING STARTED
Okies, lets pretend you have just joined the guild and are a complete newbie.  How do you begin? What do you need? Where are you? Eeks! What do all these words mean? And why the hell do I have a sash?

Well to begin, for whatever reasons you have decided to become an assassin or are thinking about it.  I won't try to 'sell' the guild to you, thats up to you.  As with anything in life or on the Disc, it is what you make it.  But lets pretend for now that you have decided and are a newbie assassin.

THINGS TO DO

Well first off, read your little newbie guide, yes, I know its tedious but it will help you and more importantly it will stop you from asking older players very silly questions and save you embarrassment over it in later days. :)

Once that's read you should understand some of the terms used and the basic 'concept' of the game.  Now what you could do with is a map.  There are a hell of alot of maps about as you will find out, the link below is to just one of them.  It has everything you need map wise there, so use it and benefit from it.
http://discworld.imaginary.com/external/atlas/atlas.htm

Ok, now you know where you.  Lets work on getting you well equipped - don't go there - You need some weapons and armour.  I'll list below some cheap and easy to find items.

Mail Coif - Filigree St in the smithy to the north. General stores
Cost : $2.66 - can vary in price.

Iron Protective
- Filigree St in the smithy to the north. General stores
Cost : $7.50  - the price for this as with the coif can vary but they are never above $10

Fluffy cloak - Ded's player shop inside the Warriors Guild off Filigree St to the south.
Cost : $15.00 but can vary up to $20.00

2 Stilettoes - Assassins Guild shop, upstairs in the teaching building
Cost : $4.75 each

Black Backpack - Assassins Guild shop, upstairs in the teaching building
Cost : $18.20

Soft-Soled Boots with Sheathes - Assassins Guild shop, upstairs in the teaching building
Cost : $6.25

Pair of priests - Assassins Guild shop, upstairs in the teaching building
Cost : $1.25

The above mentioned items are not special merely cheap and do the job to begin with.  You will have plenty of time to get far better weapons and armour as you progress through the game.  Your main objective now is to get some money and get some XP.  The above will help you to do this.

Right.  You have your goodies....if you remove all and drop all those nice newbie items it will make life easier, you don't need them now and they serve no function after you have read through the books.  So get rid of it!  They're worthless and combersome :) Now equip all that nice new stuff... No, not like that...you'll be all day, just type equip! Whey hey! You look good and are ready to go. :) Oops wait a sec, whats that on the floor? A voucher? Mmmm pick it up, let's keep that.  The voucher is a helpful little thing that you can exchange in a shop to the south of Filigree St.  Once exchanged you'll have a talker, a nice little stick.  This is damned useful because not only can you make new friends on the talker you can get alot of help from the other members of your guild and progress faster....after all we want to be the best don't we?

TALKER

All you need to know for now is how to use it.  That's simple.  Just type in the following stuff...

Talker on
Talker assassins

Though I recommend you also try ...

Talker delete one

Channel one is very spammy and can get confusing for a start.
With me so far? Now to talk into it and ask your many questions you need to type :

Assassins whatever you want to say in place of this.

or easier you could make an alias...such as this :

alias ass assassins $*$

Then all you do is type ass and your message. :P Appropriate eh? Ofcourse you can replace ass with whatever you prefer in the alias. :) If in doubt ' syntax talker'.  Nuff said.

MONEY

Argh, tis a bugger to be sure... You only get $10 to start out with, not much really is it? Definately not enough to truly get started at any rate.  So what you need now is a form of income.  Well there are numerous ways of doing this ( oh! type score now....see that? You have some XP's wooo thats idle XP that is. :P Good eh? You earnt all that while you were pratting about with your equipment) easiest way to get money is to search in the streets, you can turn up anything from a dirty old robe which is worthless to finding a royal which is $100, trouble is, it's random and so can be very tedious and boring trying to get any amount of money but it does work.

Another way is to get a job.  Now there are quests in the game which will reward you with enough money to get started with decent armour and leave you with some left over.  However if you type ' help quests' you will see I can't actually tell you about them....well not much anyway. :P Let's see how far I can push it eh?  If you were looking for employment in real life, where would you go? What type of business would you try? Hrm perhaps you should have a look at the map, maybe there's a business of some description quite near the guild, possibly just behind it and down a little, maybe from the gates if you wandered east, southeast, south, south, south, south and then west you might find something.......I'm not saying you will...just that if you want to wonder aimlessly thats a nice route to take. :) Good scenery and all that....

Not happy with those two? Well the last way in some aspects is the best but in others the slowest and hardest.  Go out there into busy AM ( Ankh-Morpork) and kill some beggars and other NPC's ( don't forget to type consider first to see if you can cope with them)  then you can get the coins from thier corpse an take any garments they are wearing and sell them too :) Not only do you get money, you get XP too. :)

ADVANCING

Right, you have a map, you have equipment and money in your purse.....you also have some XP. :)

Now I hope you have read that little book because it explained how to advance in it, if not try the help file and have a quick read.

Right where to start? so many primaries...What do you advance?

A good place to start would be with fighting.  Now think about this, if you advance fighting first then you can kill more and easier, yes? If you can kill more NPC's then you get more XP's and money and if you have more XP's you can advance more.....See where I'm heading?

Once you start advancing some of your covert skills check your score to see what your GL is and how your bonus's are coming along, it might be worthwhile having a wonder over to the teaching building to see if you can learn some commands. :)

POINTS OF USE

Hrm, points of use, don't like that title but can't think of anything else. :)
You want to get about to other places...How?

Carriage - Can be caught from the carriage stop at the eastern end of the Street Of Small Gods in AM, its also completely free of charge, but can't take you to KLK.

Taxi - A group of wizards who have decided to make thier money by charging you $5 to portal you to another location.....Can be faster than the carriage if they reply to your request.

Travel Agent - Expensive, use as a last resort only.  Can be found off sator sq
