Well paint is another thing that builders like to farm out., but to keep costs down I will be doing this myself as well. I will be using Dupli-Color rattle can paints for the most part. I do have the ability to spray with an automotive gun but do not want to go thru process of getting set back up, so rattle can is the way i'm going.
The paint scheme is going to be a base of gloss black with dark green and white graphics.
Let me be the first to tell you body work sucks. I had alittle experience doing this in my past (66 Bronco, ski boat) but forgot how little fun it is.
I started off with body filler to hide some of my ugly welds and to fill some of the unsightly gaps/imperfections. Next came the contouring and sanding and sanding and sanding (you get the picture). I then used glazing compound to fill the little imperfections and sanded some more. Then, using sandable primer I gave the frame, fender, and tank a good coat. Then went back to the glazing compound and then wet sanded with 400 grit. I then went back over all of the surfaces with primer before I gave them several coats of color and clear. |
