Oil Tank Build
With the early CB750 a oil bag was used.  Having an oil bag gives the project a real custom chopper feel.  On my project I decided to build my own custom oil tank.

To build the tank I will be using a piece of 16ga cold rolled steel and the original oil tank.

I started by laying out my design on cardboard, cutting it out, and taping it together to have a full scale mock-up.  This was handy in visulizing what it would look like on the bike. Once satisified with the design I layed it out on the sheet metal.  I cut the tank out as one piece and bent it into the shape seen.  Since I don't have a break, I lightly scored the lines with a cutoff wheel so It would easily and accurately bend in those areas. I left the ends open until after the fittings were installed

Next, I transplanted the filler neck and other fittings from the stock tank to the new one.

Finally, I made some brackets that will allow me to mount the tank to the frame and easily remove it if necessary.

All of the finish welding on the tank will be done by a local welding shop.
