GIFTS, TOYS AND HOUSEWARES (GTH)The GTH is one of the investment priority sectors of Nueva Vizcaya. Its members are making use of the abundant forest raw materials like rattan, in fashioning out highly exportable gifts and house ware products, such as baskets and softbrooms.
Another thriving GTH sector is pottery making. In response to the increasing demand for flower pots and bases from the cutflower and ornamental plant sectors, pottery making is one potential investment area awaiting investors for its expansion.
The market acceptance of these GTH products are being enhanced with the assistance of the Department of Trade and Industry Product Development Group. In the past, designs were generally dictated by Manila-based exporters. Now, with DTI assistance, GTH producers are creating their own designs which are proving to be acceptance to foreign markets. Additional uses of tiger grass in the production of new GTH products are being tested.
Another bright prospect is dried flower making which needs investors for manufacturing plant and equipment.
