Educational Goals

After five years of taking classes part-time at Tidewater Community College , I will finally graduate in the spring semester of 2006. As I look back on those five years, there are perhaps some choices I made that I wish I had reconsidered. But, as they say, there is always a reason why things happen in our life and a reason why we make certain choices. Because of this, I share my experiences with all who are beginning their educational journey as with the cases of my younger sisters and cousins. It took me a while to decide on what track I wanted to take at Tidewater Community College . I knew I wanted to learn about computers ever since my grandfather first amazed me with the things he could do on his computer. Ever since then, I have been following in his footsteps as I learned about computers. While I have been attending Tidewater Community College , I dabbled in most of the computer-related courses trying to find the right track that suited me. It was not until the last couple years that I found my calling: Web Development. Web Development combines two passions of mine: computers and art. I used to draw as a teen, and wanted to be a cartoonist. I even entertained the notion of enrolling into an art school in Washington D.C. Being a very imaginative and creative person, Web Development provides me with a virtual palette to produce visually stunning websites from ideas that come out of my imagination. After taking one more degree requirement, I will be able to graduate with an Associate in Applied Sciences, specializing in Web Development. Although I will be graduating, this is but one step in my educational journey. I intend on continuing my educational journey by pursuing another Associate degree in graphic design that specializes in multimedia at the Visual Arts Center . As I stand on top of this first step of my educational journey gazing at the next one it is a bit imitating, but through perseverance I will stand on top of this second step and prepare for what ever the next step entails.
