1. What debatable, community-based topic are you researching for Essay #3?
| I plan to write my essay on the issue of pitbull-breed of dog and whether or not they should be ban in the state of Virginia , given the recent tragedy in Suffolk that involved a 2 ½ year old boy. I plan to examine the history of the breed, the notoriety of it, talk about various attacks that have occurred here in Virginia and the rest of the world. I also plan to talk about what laws we currently have here in Virginia and what other areas, like Canada for example that flat out ban the breed in parts of their country, and whether or not we should do the same. |
2. What are the issues involved--pro/con?
| I guess the issues are the following: a) Whether or not the pitbull-breed is vicious in nature or train that way. b) do our current laws work/will new laws work. c) Would a ban help prevent any more tragedies. |
3. What readership are you trying to reach/to persuade?
| My intended readerships are people with families, especially ones with small children, and people who may own this breed or know of people who own this breed. |
