Greetings Classmates,
My name is Jason Tuttle and I have lived in Virginia all my life. Growing up, I have had my share of nicknames, but these days, I am just known as Jason or more formally, Mr. Tuttle, which I am still unaccustomed to. This semester I am taking this class and Interactive Web Design online. I enjoy taking online classes for the sheer fact that I can work on my assignments in my pajamas, if I wanted to. There is no confining classroom, just my house and my cats to keep me company and occasionally they try to help with my assignments. After five years of attending TCC part-time, I will be graduating this spring with an A.A.S in Information Systems Technology, specializing in Web Development. Although I will have finally earned a degree, I plan on returning to TCC to pursue more classes, mainly in business and computers. Eventually, I plan to attend the Visual Arts Center to pursue a degree in graphic arts, as it relates to computers and web pages. One day, I would like to have a career in Web Development or possibly owning my own web developing business.
In my free time, I enjoy listening and playing music. I have been taking guitar lessons weekly for the last two years. One of my favorite bands is the Dave Matthews Band. I play all types of videogames, both computer and PlayStation two type games. I have a few favorite television shows that I religiously watch such as CSI, Rescue Me, Nip/Tuck, Law & Order: SVU, and Battlestar Galactica. I enjoy most types of movies, but my favorite genres are action and science fiction. My weekends are usually the time that I spend with my family. I love spending time with my family. During week, I always look forward to the weekend because I know I will be seeing my family.
Some of my earliest memories of reading and writing would have to be taking crayons and writing things on the walls of my room and some of my mother's furniture. To this day, she still has a hutch that has my earliest writings on it. As a child, I used to get all sorts of Dr. Seuss books, Disney books, etc. But, in the second or third grade, I remember going to the library every week and checking out the same two books. A couple of years ago, I was able to locate them online and purchase them. They are both about monsters. One is about how to take care of your monster, and the other one is about a boy who had a Dracula doll, which he thought came to life to terrorize everyone at summer camp. These days, I read anything that I am curious about or have an interest in. I am currently reading The Chronicles of Narina. I am a huge Star Wars fan, so I own and have read every single novel that there is about Star Wars and its characters.
For the last eleven years, I have been working full-time as a computer operator at Norfolk Public Schools, so I consider myself fairly proficient in the use of computers. As a computer operator, there are times that I have to refer to documentation for help when there are problems with running a batch job, or with the hardware that I use. With technology constantly changing, my role as a computer operator has recently begun changing. At the beginning of this month, the network operations center has been integrated with my job. With these new duties, I have a little more writing to do in that I have to document server outage problems when they occur.
Sincerely,
Jason Tuttle |
