Week of: July 31, 2000

Day 22: July 31, 2000

Had a real strong Leg and Ab workout tonight.  Really pushed on the Hack Squats and got up to 180 lbs.  That felt real good and is a personal best since I have been back in the gym.  the workout for tonight went as follows:

Quads: Hack Squats & Free Weight Leg Extensions
Hamstrings: Seated Leg Curls
Inner/Outer Thighs: Leg Abductions and Leg Adductions
Calves: Incline Calf Raises
Abs: Cable Crunches & Lying Raised Leg Crunches

Day 23: August 1, 2000

Hard to believe how fast the time is going now.... I am already into week 4 of this, my second challenge, or week 16 overall.  All I can say is WOW!!

Tonight, I had another intense cardio workout on the bike.  During the last 5 minutes, I kept reminding myself of Yoda's quote: "Do, or do not, there is no try." and I did not quit.  I was really in the zone tonight, and I was really feeling it in my legs, especially after last night's Leg workout......

Tomorrow, it's Upper Body time again...... Onward............

Day 24: August 2, 2000

Upper Body tonight.  Was really pumped up for it and got a great pump going through it.  Once again, I did the "Hammer Strength" Incline Presses and really felt the Pecs working.  Was back to the dumbbells for shoulders with side laterals and bent over rear laterals..... The routine for tonight was as follows......

Chest:  "Hammer Strength" Incline Presses & "Cybex" Flat Bench Presses
Shoulders: Standing Dumbbell Side Laterals & Bent Over Dumbbell Rear Laterals
Back: Seated Rows & Front Pulldowns
Triceps: Triceps Pushdowns & Overhead Cable Extensions (Rope)
Biceps: Modular Cable Curls & Standing Alternate Dumbbell Curls

Day 25: August 3, 2000

Got my cardio workout in today in a new way.  I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge at a brisk pace.

This week, I have been in school for my Annual In-Service training which is taking place at Pace University right by the Brooklyn Bridge in Manhattan.  My wife had the car today at her job which is a few blocks off the Brooklyn side of the bridge so, when I got out of class, I decided to go meet her at her job by walking over the bridge.  It was definitely a nice change of pace from the usual bike or treadmill.

For the record, this was my first time ever "Walking" over the bridge, even though I have lied in New York all of my life.  I guess that goes to prove the point that when you live around a tourist attraction, a lot of times, you never get there and see it as a tourist would.

Day 26: August 4, 2000

For the next few days, the gym will be closed while they redo the floors and carpeting.  With that, I will be taking a mini vacation from my challenge and will return to the gym on Monday, the beginning of Week 5.

Day 27: August 5, 2000

Day 2 of my mini-vacation...... The time sure does fly as I type this and see that this is my 27th day of my second challenge.....

Day 28: August 6, 2000

The mini-vacation from the gym has come to an end.  Tomorrow, I return to the gym with an all out Upper Body workout planned..... Till then.........
