Week of: July 17, 2000

Day 8: July 17, 2000

Back in the gym for Legs and Abs today.  Again, I felt real strong and pretty much kept the last Leg workout intact.  Switching the calf exercises around was the only major change I made this workout.

Quads: Hack Squats and Free Weight Leg Extensions
Hamstrings: Seated Leg Curls and Standing Leg Curls
Outer/Inner Quads: Leg Adductions and Leg Abductions
Calves: Incline Calf Raises and Donkey Calf Raises
Abs: Cable Crunches and Raised Leg Crunches

Tomorrow, will be back for cardio.  Gonna look into using the treadmill instead of the bike, but only if one is available.

Day 9: July 18, 2000

No treadmills available when I got to the gym.  I would have had at least an hours wait, so I elected to get back on the bike for my 30 minutes of cardio.  Felt good and strong throughout.

Can't wait till the gym at work opens so I can get some of my cardio workouts done either in the mornings before work or when I get off.

Day 10: July 19, 2000

Decided to really mix it up today and went to the machines for my chest exercises.  Had planned to use the Smith machine again, but both were being used when I arrived.  It was definitely a nice change from the free weights.

Today's exercises were as follows:

Chest: Machine Chest Presses and Pec Deck
Shoulders: Side Cable Laterals and Kneeling Rear Cable Laterals
Back: Lat Pull Downs (Front) and Stiff Arm Pull Downs (Front)
Triceps: Seated Overhead Cable Raises and Assisted Dips
Biceps: Modular Cable Curls and Standing Cable Curls

Day 11: July 20, 2000

Today, I got to the gym to do my cardio and after I got started on the bike, I realized that I had wanted to hit the treadmill for a change of pace.  I will definitely hit the treadmill on Saturday.  Today though, I did get a great 30 minutes in on the bike.  Onward to tomorrow with another Leg and Ab workout........

Day 12: July 21, 2000

Back to my Legs and Abs tonight.  The gym was empty tonight, so was able to breeze right through my workout.

Quads: Hack Squats and Free Weight Leg Extensions
Hamstrings: Seated Leg Curls and Glute Machine
Outer/Inner Quads: Leg Adductions and Leg Abductions
Calves: Seated Calf Raises and Donkey Calf Raises
Abs: Cable Crunches and Raised Leg Crunches

Day 13: July 22, 2000

Sometimes, I still get the urge to blow off a workout.  Today was one of those days.  After I got done with my magic and was driving to the gym, I had the thought to just skip the workout.  Well, I didn't!  As I got to the gym I said to myself, why am I feeling this way and decided to go.  It is funny though, when I have these days, the days where I want to blow off the workouts, I always seem to have a better than average workout.

I also got to hit a treadmill today for cardio and it was a nice change of pace from the stationary bike.  Did a nice brisk walk with a number of 30 to 60 second running sprints thrown in.  Gotta use the treadmill more often throughout this challenge.

I also picked up the new Myoplex Tropical flavored mixes.  Had the Pina Colada after my workout and gotta say, it tastes great.  Can't wait to try the other flavors this week.

Day 14: July 23, 2000

Free day today, so I went to the beach with the kids and a friend with his kids.  While there, got an interesting workout in by digging a 5 foot deep hole.  Did a lot of bending and squatting as the hole got deeper and deeper.  We dug the whole using only a couple of toy pots from the kids kitchen set.  In the end, the hole was about 2 feet wide by 4 feet long.  That was a lot of digging!  My friend took some pictures, so if I get a copy, I will post it here for everyone to see.... On now, to Week 3..............
