John Harms' Poetry: 1998-1999
(not for print)

Most poetry created for creative writing classes aren't just submitted hand-written on scratch paper.
Most of this poetry has gone through many analytic processes and revisions to become what you
see here today. Professors and students read the poetry and give suggestions for improvement.
It is up to me, the author, to decide what to change and what to leave alone. This is why poetry
can be complex. But, poetry can also come naturally. There are a few poems that I wrote and
never revised; they were satisfying to me in their original format.
