John Lee Blain b_1943   d_

John Lee Blain;  Born April 17, 1943;  Delaware County, Ohio; son of :  Henry Lee Blain 1889 - 1964 and Martha Jane Eads Randall Blain 1911 - 1975.  John is married to Rebecca Suzanne Gebert Blain b-December 30, 1943.  John graduated Valedictorian of his class in 1961 from Elm Valley High School in Ashley, Ohio.  He enlisted in the Air Force soon after graduation.  He received training in Electronics, an interest he developed after receiving a radio kit as a gift from his brother David, while he was very young.  John continues his work in electronics; his specialty, radio frequencies; but he has an avid love and proficiency for the computer and does much of his work using them.  John met his wife Becky while working on various space programs at AVCO in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Working together on the same space programs sub-contracted from the Grumman and NASA Space jobs, they took part in completion manufacture of vital instruments for the first moon shots.  Portions of those same manufactured goods sit on the moon to this day.  John's favorite color is blue, he loves good food, good movies, country/bluegrass music and more than all the above, he loves his family.  He is kind, gentle and has a real but silly sense of humor having honed a talent to say complete sentences with the letters reversed.  John and Becky raised two children, Donald Ray Blain b-October 29, 1964; d-March 30, 1997 and Halie Suzanne Blain Hovenga; b-October 7, 1970.  They have one granddaughter, Eden Sierra Hovenga; b-November 27, 1990.

The whole point of Genealogy as I see it is to try to trace traits you see in the here and now to somewhere in the past.  We have very few pictures of some Blain generations and farther back, no pictures at all.  I decided, even though some of the pictures we have are not the best, they still portray traits you may see in some of your family bringing everyone a little closer to fitting the puzzle pieces together.

John Lee Blain description; John has a very high forehead.  He has very deep blue eyes and small ears with a small lobe, a prominent nose and his lower lip is fuller than his top one.  His hair is a medium brown and has a lot of natural curl in it.  You can see the high forehead and the curls in the younger pictures but the typical man has tried to straighten them with gels and cuts in the more recent photos.  He is very short waisted and has long arms, difficult to fit in the stores for shirts or coats.  His skin is fair but it tans nicely; the problem is, he is susceptible to sun poisoning.  He has good eyesight and hearing though I think age is catching up to him in those areas.  He is highly intelligent.  I think he could have done anything he might have wanted to do in the math area.  He was able to answer any math question without figuring on paper for any mathematical equation.   We had an occasion when NASA called everyday for a week a couple of times a day to find out how to do some repairs on one of the units that had been built at AVCO.  John was the only one who knew how to fix it.  He is an excellent speller.  Again, age seems to have slowed us down but he can still out-spell me any day.  Neither of us are what is called hyper-active.  We both like to relax, he needs his sleep and always has.  He loves animals and the outdoors.  Material things have never been a priority with him.  He has what I call "common sense".  He doesn't drink, smoke, or gamble never seeing a necessity in any of it.  He will eat whatever is put on his plate without complaint.  He is dependable to a fault and a family man first and foremost.  I believe I have covered it all.
