My grandfather, Benjamin Lafayette Blain, pictured to the left and the right of the center four generation picture.  In the center picture, he stands with his son, my dad, Henry Lee Blain, to his left, his grandson dad's son from his first marriage, Herbert called "Bill", to his right.  Bill stands with his hands on the shoulders of his daughter Cathy who is Benjamin's great grand daughter.  Judging from the picture, Benjamin looks to have been an approximate 6' tall.  I am 6'2" and am taller than my dad who appears, even though standing very straight, shorter than Benjamin whose shoulder height looks higher even though he is stooped in the picture.

Three of Benjamin's children; My dad Henry Lee Blain on the left, his only sister Fannie Blain Ferko and brother Guy Blain.  Ray Blain is the missing sibling in the picture.  This picture was taken at a family reunion held at the home of Guy's daughter, Grace Mussard.  The picture date is 1954.

The gravestone for Benjamin and Ida Belle appears to be new.  It must have been placed on the grave somewhat recently.  Headstones go from the extremely new to the nearly unreadable ancients.  Taking rubbings from the stones sometimes helps to get dates.  In this case, not necessary.

Benjamin; Hebrew name; The youngest son of Jacob in the Old Testament; means "son of my sorrow"
